Is the G25 the same as a G37? ›

The INFINITI G37 Sedan has the advantage in the area of base engine power.

it is a comfortable sport-sedan that is also reliable. It drives well and it comes with most of the luxury options. After-market and performance upgrade parts are more affordable than other makes.

As with all other vehicles, if you follow regular maintenance schedules and take good care of your Infiniti G37, it can last you 200,000 miles and beyond.

Fuel economy differences between the AWD and front-drive versions were slight; the former model being a touch thirstier on the highway. Both, however, were significantly thriftier than the G37. But the G25 apparently wasn't thrifty – or sporty – enough. Infiniti quietly dropped it from its lineup in 2013.

Though power is adequate for most tasks, the G25 never feels particularly fast. In our tests, the rear-drive G25 Journey model scooted to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds. Not terribly fast, but also not slow by any means. The only transmission available is a seven-speed automatic that can automatically rev-match downshifts.

The annual maintenance cost of an INFINITI G37 is $540. Repair and maintenance costs vary depending on age, mileage, location and shop.

If you don't routinely and consistently change your fluids at least every 30,000 miles or so, you may find that your INFINITI G37 transmission will swiftly slip. Check your car's owner's manual for more advice on the specific mileage intervals in which your transmission needs the fluid changed.

Some dealers recommended that you stay away from used cars with over 100,000 miles on them, but this certainly isn't a concrete rule. In fact, if a car is well-maintained and has been regularly serviced, it can last for well over 100,000 miles with no issues.

If you select a quality model, the average Infiniti will last about 200,000 miles. They can last more if you take proper care of the vehicle. Infiniti has a quality lifespan, especially for a luxury brand.

The average total annual cost for repairs and maintenance on a INFINITI G25 is $533, compared to an average of $739 for luxury midsize cars and $652 for all vehicle models.

All INFINITI models are designed to run on gas with an octane level of 91 or higher. When choosing your INFINITI gas type, keep in mind that no regular gas has an octane level that high. That means all INFINITI engines will run their best when fed premium gas.

The difference in combined city/highway fuel economy between the two is 1 mpg: 22 mpg for the G37 and 23 for the Infiniti G25, an improvement of about 5 percent. The difference for the all-wheel-drive models is similarly minimal: The G37x is mileage rated 18/25 mpg and the G25x is 19/27 mpg.

The main changes are that the G35x has a 5-speed automatic transmission, compared to the revised 7-speed automatic in the G37x. When putting the transmissions head-to-head, this seems to come down to personal preference. The 7-speed has shorter gearing than the 5-speed, which in turn provides slightly improved MPG.

An Infiniti G37 by another name would be the Skyline coupe.

Under the hood of the G25 is a 2.5-liter V6 engine, built with the same VQ engine architecture as the 3.7-liter V6 used in the G37.
