How to Make Italian Chicken in a Crock Pot
Aunt Lou here.
I recently read a comment by one of our readers, Marguerite L., about a recipe she loves to make. She makes it with beef, but I thought I would try it with chicken since we have had quite a few beef recipes in our house lately. We loved this Crock Pot Italian Chicken so much that I look forward to trying it with beef and maybe even pork! It is so yummy! Thanks Marguerite!
If you have read many of my recipes, you know I am a notoriously slow recipe prepper. This one seemed so simple I wanted to see exactly how long it took me to put it together. So, I pulled up my stopwatch on my phone and timed it. From start to finish, it took me two minutes to put this together. Two minutes! So, this would be a great recipe to throw together when you don’t have time to prep anything. Take two minutes and let the crock pot do the rest!
What You Will Need
Ingredients Needed
- 3 chicken breasts (Around 2 to 2.5 lbs of chicken)
- 1 oz onion soup mix packet
- 0.7 oz Italian dressing mix packet
- 1 cup chicken broth
- Optional: cooked rice, cooked noodles, buns or wraps (You can serve this over rice or noodles or on a bun or as a wrap. There are tons of possibilities!)
Equipment Needed
- Measuring cup
- Two forks
- 4 quart slow cooker
Time Needed
- Prep Time: Less than 5 minutes
- Cooking Time: 4 to 6 hours on low or 2 to 3 hours on high
- Additional Time: Less than 5 minutes to shred the chicken with two forks

The only comment i saw was the gal said it was too salty. Did you not think it was? If so what can I do to make it less salty? Also im making it for a graduation open house so how much chicken do you think I should use? There will also be pulled pork and other sides. If I triple the recipe, will that be enough? Over 100 we’re invited but of course all won’t come. .

My family and I didn’t find it too salty. If you would like to make it less salty, you can try low sodium ingredients where available. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!
